He has specicially called out standard infantry as being generally piss poor at this which is again why its a bit more shocking that this guy has somehow remained in service after 2 incidents (reported). They are trained to expect civilians and non-combatants in their theater of operation and drilled to use the time required to make a decision to fire. And everything he has told me seems to point to weapons discipline being number one. I too am curious if this was brought on by years of service or if he was displaying signs during training (I'd hope the very vigorous training would weed this type of person out). For this alone I would expect that this guy's behavior should have flagged command. Because they are inserted into these situations where often the normal US military prescence is not well known or down right not known they need to work under extreme discipline. SEALs undergo that training as they need to fit a very stringent standard. ![]() I mean, I agree with you but it's also kind of the point I'm making.
